Hi Rune, perhaps we could discuss this further when you are back; I run a market research company focussing on propelling businesses and non-profit initiatives in African markets. Have a look at and drop me an e-mail at if you are interested.

Thank you for your mail and for taking the time to try the blog-forum as a way of communication ( it is not new, but within Sida we have not used it frequently). Your idea regarding how to improve the situation for local fishermen along the African Coast sounds interesting and we look forward to hear more about it. It also helps us to get a picture of the type of projects that are in the minds of existing/potential entrepreneurs.

As we are trying to establish a work mode enabling us to act flexible, we are planning to recruit an implementing agency (IA), that will handle the administration of “Innovations Against Poverty”. The recruitment of this agency will start in May and it will hopefully start to operate during the fall.
We will therefore save your contact information, in order for the IA to get back to you.

It is a pity you can not participate in Globe Forum, but in this digital world is is still possible to participate.

      best regards,
      Maria Stridsman

Viola Vitalis is dedicated to improve the health and envrironmental issues of the marzinalized people. There are specific health related problems for example arsenicosis in Bangladesh. Many companies are not interested to develop technology, methodology and information system for them because they do not have purchasing power. But its a 4 billion people market. We can not talk about development without taking them into the loop. An innovative process can solve the problem, Viola Vitalis has taken the lead to develop first the product for arsencosis treatment and showed that it is possible. Establish modern mobile clinics to disseminate the products. Another problems we use to hear that high technology is a unattainable milestones for the marginalized peoples problem. But that is not the case, we are developing biosensors for the specific detection for the arsenic in rural village in Bangladesh. In future, we will develop nanomedicine, bioelectronic based system for them in a cheaper cost. It just need an innovative approach and proper communication.
Our effort is highly recognized in Sweidsh TV in Aktuelt news, many national and international media. We as enterprenuer can lead and proof the concept and the other stake holders has to bring to large scale implementation and now we are contacting as many stakeholders as possible and spread the information. May be an enterpreneur from Africa would follow the same way we do to solve their own problem in health, nutrition and otehr field. Would be interesting to share the experience.

      Dr Kader,

Interesting to read about your experiences and your willingness to share them. One component of “Innovation Against Poverty” is an annual conference. The aim is to enable a cross-communication between actors in the field.

      Best regards,
      Maria Stridsman
